job description

One of New Zealand’s leading multidisciplinary consultancies, with a diversity of experience and expertise to tackle major projects, is looking to add more depth to their Structural team in Christchurch. They have years of experience in successfully developing client relationships, providing technical excellence and delivering award-winning project solutions.

As an organisation, they seek people who look to provide innovative solutions, enjoy working within a flexible, supportive and collaborative team environment, and a culture that offers the freedom to innovate and explore.

This established Structures team is involved in all types of structural projects as they work alongside the other structural divisions - hence the projects are extremely varied. Situated within an open plan office environment this close-knit group of professionals work closely together running and contributing to these various projects.

As a Senior Engineer, this could be the next career step you are seeking. This role requires a qualified, chartered and established engineer who is looking for a new challenge.

The ideal candidate will need to have:

  • Up to date knowledge of AS/NZS standards – particularly seismic design.
  • Track record of performance in the New Zealand market.
  • Strong technical competence & attention to detail.
  • Experience using structural calculation packages & software.
  • Excellent communication skills with external associates and colleagues.
  • Project negotiation and client liaison skills.
  • Business acumen & an ability to lead a team of staff.
  • A proven track record in structural engineering design across a variety of projects.
  • A genuine desire to better yourself professionally & build positive relationships in the industry.

Your career will have developed into more of a technical management position, including financial reporting, allocating resource planning and dealing with direct reports. You'll be comfortable supervising/ mentioning more junior members of staff whilst proactively improving service to clients and motivating the team to deliver on service expectations.

It is the great opportunity that shouldn’t be missed!

Only those with a Valid Work Visa or Full Working Rights for New Zealand will be considered.
